Tedhi-Medhi Kahani

(Courtesy- Kunal Kohli Productions)
Teri Meri kahaani gives us a very interesting star cast with Shahid kapoor and Priyanka Chopra. Alas! It does nothing to mitigate this disaster. Or shall we say, disasters? The story is basically of similar love stories spanned over three generations.

After the classic “love story” start and classic “love story” dialogue we see a 1960’s set. Govind(Shahid Kapoor) a wannabe musician in pursuit of stardom is travelling to Mumbai and conveniently bumps into a film star Rukhsar (Priyanka Chopra). Then a love story full of complications, songs and drama  starts. The same is repeated in the 2012 and 1910 era.

One of the disturbing things about the movie is that there is no narration or thread what so ever to tie these three stories together. We just go from 1960 to 2012 to 1910 without any reasonable explanation! Apologies as we am not revealing much of the plot because there is hardly any. We don’t want to reveal the little twists because they might make the movie watchable for you, and we don’t want to run it more!
In a total catastrophe, some salvaging elements do exist. One is Shahid Kapoor’s outstanding acting! He delivers a brilliant performance and transforms himself into a person of each era as the script demands! The dialogues, especially the “shayaris” of the 1910 era did blow me off! The writing in that aspect is amazing! (The shayaris were penned by Kunal Kohli) The production design of 1960’s is a treat to watch although an expert eye will notice that it could have been better.

They haven’t exploited technology to the optimum level.  The film starts with a bang with nice dialogues and humour, but then the graph drops. This film will not do much help to Priyanka Chopra’s career. Kunal Kohli’s direction could have been better. We would say that if you watch a movie for only because it is a love story or for the cast, catch it. Others wait for the DVD or for it to come on television. Sadly , the torrents aren't available thanks to Mr. Ka [..the rest was censored by the Competent Authority Of India].

The songs, like “Mukhtazar” have also caught up well with the people.Sunil Patel’s cinematography and Sajid Wajid’s music are impressive! Prachi Desai and Neha Sharma’s performances are most likely to go unnoticed. If you are very fond of love stories and are a Shahid Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra fan you might even like the movie. Although we must warn that Priyanka Chopra’s performance is disappointing!

Rating- 2/5

  1. Yet another disappointing Shahid starer film . Film is utterly meaning less. Its catchy in few areas, the songs are good. Over all this is a shear waste of resources. Didn't expect this from Kunal Kohli.
