Gangs Of Wasseypur: Low Budget, High Entertainment!

Gangs Of Wasseypur did not spend much on the promotion. Although word of mouth made the film famous among the public. GOW is not a movie. Its a piece of art! Each and every scene, each and every frame is perfect, with a very fine attention to details. However, where the film wins your heart over with the visual, it fails to do so in the some other aspects. This offbeat film suffers from a low budget.

The story is of a man, Sardar Singh (Manoj Bajpai) who craves for revenge of his father's death from Ramadhir Singh (Tigmanshu Dhulia). The story is displayed parallel to the important events in history, including the independence, nationalisation of firms and then their liberation. Although its not stated anywhere, I highly suspect that the film draws inspiration from a real life story. This time also, we wont reveal anything of the plot as we want you people to relish each and every twist and turn. And also there is just too much of matter crammed into 165 minutes. Which is important as the story of the second part will relate to the first.

Everything in the film is portrayed very realistically. Don't worry, it's not as gross as it sounds. We would like to give a small tip here. When watching the movie, don't watch it as a film, watch it as a occurrence of real life events. You will enjoy substantially more!

To those who found the happenings of the film superficial, you are wrong. Such gangs did exist and do exist in some parts of India as well. Yes, they are this violent and yes they don't have a moral compass. Like we said, the film is very realistic.

Rajeev Ravi's cinematography is just impeccable. The acting talent is at its best! These are not your mainstream, glamorous actors, they are the ones playing quite side roles in the mainstream cinema, so convincingly that you will never notice they are acting. Most of the times, they deliver a better performance than the main lead. We absolutely have no words for a talent like Manoj Bajpai. He is magnificent. The acting talent in him, can be rarely found elsewhere. Each and every actor and character are brilliant.

The bad thing about the movie is that its a whole lot of story in very less time and also there are a lot of characters to remember. And too much of something good is bad too isn't it. However, if you watch attentively, you won't have a problem. The film seems to have been made for classes and not for masses, as they don't explain some terms which people living in metros may not get. The editing could have been a tad better. The songs haven't been exactly famous. Although "hunter" and "keh ke lunga" do make your feet tap. The background score by G.V Prakash Kumar is commendable. And, again, all the actors are absolutely fabulous. Every small character is portrayed and played with perfection. The humour is good, will keep you laughing throughout. In short, chuck teri meri kahaani and go for this one.
