#Dhoble Tries To Do A "Shahenshah"

"Andheri raaton mein sunsaan rahon par 
Har zulm mitaane ko ek masiha nikalta hai jise log shahenshah kehate hain"


No, we aren't quoting "Shahenshah", though the above quotes are by him. This time we are quoting someone who is doing something similar, Vasant Dhoble, who has become infamous in the whole of Mumbai as a destroyer of night life. He lurks around in the dark, with a hockey stick in hand and the burdening weight of the reckless party animals on his shoulders. 

Like all the super heroes, he has some super powers of his own. He senses the trouble that is going to be created because of calamitous names like Madness, Shiro Lounge, Masala Curry. Dhoble also has a power known as ‘evacuator’! When he enters a night club, the debilitated and petrified malevolent creatures give out a cry “bhaagoo, Dhoble aaya” (Run, Dhoble’s here) and scatter around searching for cover. Some fortunate ones flee, leaving all their belongings behind and others succumb to his justice!

His Old Deeds...
Vasant Dhoble has a long record which is very unimpressive, to say the least! He had been suspended in 1989, for taking bribe in Pune. In 1994 he was dismissed for causing a suspect’s death during interrogation and he was also sentenced to 7 years imprisonment during the same year. He was later also fined with rupees 1 lakh for the suspect’s death. He is also accused of disappearing some dossiers related to the international don, Dawood Ibrahim. 

His Present...

 He has been known to vandalize street side eateries , arrest women of reputed families for suspected prostitution, and defame them. The arrests were made because the ACP found it rather “suspicious” that at a night club the men had to pay the cover charge and the women didn’t! So, he conveniently deduced that all the women there are prostitutes and all the men, their customers. Mr. Dhoble is over-doing his duty. 

The raids are necessary but should be done on pubs / bars / discotheques where there is an actual trade of flesh. The innocent people for whom disco is a stress-buster after a week of tiresome work, should not be made a target. His intentions are corrects but methods are wrong. 

Dhoble did rightfully bust a pub which didn't have a discotheque license (license to have people on the dance floor) or a bar which had the license only to continue as a restaurant; but manhandling people in the name of quick justice and take the law in your hand is downright intolerable.You cannot treat normal-office-going -public as you handle rapists, gangsters and hooligans. Lets hope that this abominable attack on Mumbai’s night life stops

Two women who were sent to a remand home by #Dhoble have now demanded Rs. 1cr as compensation. They say that they were attending a birthday bash, when #Dhoble raided the Andheri restaurant, they were released after they produced their income-tax documents at the court, as a proof of their normal life. They have condemned #Dhoble and held him responsible. A departmental inquiry against him is still pending in this case - the Supreme Court had ordered this. 

He Trends...
He had topped the Twitter trends of India, the first police officer to do so. He raided a disco as it was overcrowded. Maybe he has not travelled in local trains and buses. ACP Vasant Dhoble is to nightlife what Kapil Sibal is to the internet!
